"Polynesian juice used to lower cholesterol Noni, an indigenous plant of South Pacific used in Polynesian folk medicine for more than 2,000 years, may lower total cholesterol and triglycerides in adult smokers with elevated cholesterol levels. Smokers were chosen because they tend to have higher total cholesterol levels and are at higher risk for heart disease than nonsmokers, according to the American Heart Association. After drinking 1-4 ounces of noni juice daily, drinkers' average total cholesterol dropped from 235.2 milligrams to 190.2, and average triglyceride levels declined from 242.5 milligrams to 193.5. Noni juice is made from fruit of Morinda Citrifolio and has strong antioxidant, anti-coagulation, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
