"The Beverly, Massachusetts supplment company found itself on the wrong side of judge's decision when the judge ruled that two informercials the company produced claiming their product could cure cancer were deceptive.The Federal Trade Commission and US District Court Judge George Otoole found three defendants liable for as much as $55 million in restitution as a result of the roles they played in the informercial production and distribution.
Donald Barrett and Robert Maihos were the defendants named in the Federal Trade Commission complaint and request for permanent injunction, along with Direct Marketing Concepts, ITV Direct, and ITV Global.
