Ambit Energy is an alternative electricity and natural gas service provider marketed through independent consultants that was founded in early 2006. The company sells commercial and residential electricity and natural gas to consumers in Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and electricity in Maryland and Texas. Ambit's mission is to accumulate a lasting and loyal customer base that can earn energy and travel rewards. Ambit Energy was named the fastest-growing privately held company in north Texas by SMU's Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship, and was also named “America’s Fastest-Growing Private Company,” by Inc. magazine in September 2010.
Currently, Ambit Energy offers energy service to its 500,000 customers and provides income opportunities to over 100,000 Independent Consultants marketing and selling the alternative energy product. Ambit provides a comprehensive back-office system, training and support to its Consultants. Consultants are not responsible for handling billing or collections. Ambit Energy utilizes a “coded” compensation plan that pays residuals based on customer energy usage through 6 generations. In addition Ambit offers Leadership bonuses as customers are gathered by new consultants. The compensation plan pays out based on the sales of services, not on recruiting.
