Chaumé was a Green Bay, Wisconsin-area handbag and fashion-accessories company co-founded by Amanda Rhodes and Mollie Thiry. Development of the business began during 2011, followed by its formal direct-selling launch in 2012. Rhodes was responsible for designing and developing the company's products, while both founders managed the business as a home-party and relationship-based sales operation.
The company specialized in fashion tote bags that could be updated with interchangeable straps, embellishments and other accessories. Its catalog also included canvas tote sets, insulated fashion bags, handbags, cosmetic cases and wallets. The concept allowed customers to change the appearance or function of a bag without purchasing an entirely new handbag. Chaumé received national exposure in a December 2012 Forbes article covering handbag styles and interchangeable accessories.
Chaumé sold its products through independent representatives known as Stylists. Stylists conducted home and social selling events, operated personalized affiliate pages and could recruit and lead teams of additional representatives. Hostesses received product credits, half-price merchandise and other discounts based on party sales. The use of team development, sponsored representatives and replicated sales pages made Chaumé a multilevel party-plan company rather than a single-level retail affiliate program.

New Chaumé stylists can purchase a Starter Kit for $199.00 at the time they sign up and start earning commissions on their first show, or they may choose to earn their Starter Kit through show sales. The Chaumé Starter Kit includes product samples, catalogs, invitations, Host Guest lists, business cards, order forms, and a Stylist Guide.
Compensation Plan
Chaumé Stylists earn 20-25% commission on their personal sales, as well as a percentage of their downline sales when they build a team. Stylists must sell a minimum of $500.00 per quarter in order to remain active.
