DubLi also has an online auction called the DubLi reverse auction where consumers can bid on items in reverse until they reach the lowest price. The lowest, unique price wins the item.
DubLi was founded in 2003 by Michael Hansen, and only launched in Germany initially. After a year and a half of perfecting the model, DubLi was offered in 27 countries, officially launching for the first time in the United States in April of 2009.
DubLi employs a reverse auction format whereby consumers purchase units from a representative for a set price, and use those units to 'down' bid on items they want. The consumer must have the lowest, unique bid in order to win the item, and consumers say the experience is enjoyable and a good way to save money on things they want or need.
