Elysée Scientific Cosmetics traces its history to 1923, when Dr. Elizabeth "Elysée" Blumenthal developed the company's first product, a hand cream, using European skincare formulas. Blumenthal brought the business to the United States in 1940. Linda Marshall purchased Elysée in 1972 and moved its headquarters to Wisconsin in 1975, later operating the company with members of her family. Elysée developed and manufactured its own products and also performed private-label work for doctors, celebrities and other businesses. The company donated a portion of sales to shelters serving abused women and children, supported the Look Good Feel Better program for people undergoing cancer treatment and helped establish the James E. Marshall OCD Foundation in 2002.

Elysée specializes primarily in anti-aging and specialty skincare. Its products have included facial cleansers, moisturizers, treatment serums, eye creams, body creams, masks, cosmetics and products using ingredients such as royal jelly, grape-seed and wine extracts, alpha hydroxy acids, olive oil, botanicals and vitamins. Current products include Optim-OX Conditioning Cream, Fountain of Youth Wrinkle-Intervention Cream, Liposomal Cream, Age Defense-AP Stress Relief Serum, Perfect Transition skincare, YouthSpan facial and body treatments and On Camera concealers.
