Kevin Trudeau has had been the subject of various FTC and SEC actions. In 1996 he settled with teh states of Illinois and Michigan for more than $150,000 for operating an illegal pyramid scheme. In 1998 he was fined $500,00 by the FTC for misleading claims made in infomercials. His company Shop America was ordered to pay 2 million dollars to settle charges of claiming his product could cure cancer.
