Original Npros business profile for UndercoverWear, preserved below for archival purposes:
UndercoverWear was a Massachusetts-based lingerie and romance-products direct-selling company founded by Tiffany and Walter James. The couple opened Tiffany's Undercover Boutique in Boston in 1975, and Tiffany James held the first UndercoverWear home lingerie party in 1977. The business grew into one of the earliest and longest-running lingerie party-plan companies in North America. UndercoverWear's company timeline states that it enrolled its 10,000th Agent in 1983 and its 100,000th Agent in 1992, although those figures represented cumulative enrollments rather than the number of active representatives at either date. Their son, Jamie Jamitkowski, became company president in 2001.
The company sold lingerie, pajamas, sleepwear, robes, casual apparel, corsets, bath and body products, romance lotions, adult novelties, lubricants, jewelry, and other bedroom accessories. UndercoverWear introduced its Bedroom Magic adult-novelty division in 2003 and its UndercoverCare spa division in 2005. It also created the Nighties for the Needy charitable campaign in 2008 and partnered with Chippendales in Las Vegas on an exclusive lingerie and romance-product collection in 2012.
On October 1, 2013, UndercoverWear acquired the assets of Rhode Island party-plan company Latasia & Co., including its jewelry and accessory lines, website, brand, and consultant organization. UndercoverWear said approximately 1,000 Latasia consultants were expected to join its sales force following the acquisition.
Independent representatives, known primarily as UndercoverWear Agents, sold through lingerie, romance-product, spa, jewelry, and online parties. Agents earned commissions on personal customer sales and could advance into leadership positions by building and supporting sales organizations.
