XanGo, a fruit juice which consists primarily of the mangosteen fruit, contains the xanthone mangostin, an antioxidant that has been shown to have anti-ulcer and anti-inflammatory effects, in addition to fungicidal, antibacterial, and antiseptic benefits.
The xanthones used in XanGo mangosteen are taken from the rind, or pericarp of the fruit. If the pericarp is not used in the product, the benefit and level of xanthones will not be as beneficial as many other anti-oxidants currently available. Also of note, is the fact that the XanGo xanthones found in the pericarp of the mangosteen fruit have not been "clinically" proven to have any disease preventive effects. It is for this reason that they are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration as they are considered nutritional supplements, not medications. |
