PartyLite Files 2 Million Distributor Lawsuit

PartyLite filed a lawsuit this week arguing that a St. Louis woman should pay $2 million in damages for a cross-recruiting party held at her home.

The PartyLite lawsuit alleges that Mary Grace Lewandoswki, a top distributor, held a BBQ at her home in July to announce she was leaving PartyLite for Park Lane Jewelry.

The suit alleges:

Specifically, on or about July 14, 2010, PartyLite received information during interviews with certain salespeople in the downline sales force on which Lewandowski earned commissions (the "Serendipity Region" sales force), that Lewandowski had invited a number of salespeople in the Serendipity Region to a so-called "barbecue" at her home. According to these communications, during the course of the barbecue ... Lewandowski made an announcement in her living room to the PartyLite salespeople that she "had left" PartyLite. When asked why she had left PartyLite, Lewandowski made repeated statements that she "knew something" that the members of the Serendipity Region downline salesforce did not know.
