Jazzercise was started in 1977 by Judi Sheppard Missett after moving to Southern California from Evanston, Illinois. She had been teaching jazz classes isnce 1969. Judi Shepard Missett is the CEO and she still continues to teaches classes once a week. They started franchising in 1983. Jazzercise has more than 5000 instuctors teaching the class to almost half a million participants each year in the United States and more than 30 countries.
